Welcome San Diego Nonprofits

San Diego Nonprofits (formerly SANDAN) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, public benefit organization that was incorporated in May 1998. 

Our name has changed but our mission remains the same: to advance the well-being of the San Diego region by promoting, connecting, and serving a vibrant nonprofit sector.

We work toward that mission every day by championing our nonprofit community and connecting nonprofits with resources, with each other, with the business community, and with elected officials.

2013: The Year of San Diego Nonprofits!

Nonprofits touch the lives of every resident in our San Diego community, providing vital resources, services, education, and employment to our region. We are proud to be the champion of the nonprofit sector, and look forward to activating, advocating, and accelerating impact in the social sector in 2013 and beyond with your help!

Times have been tough for many nonprofits as they have dealt with shrinking resources and growing needs, which makes the need for collaboration and innovation more important than ever. We spent the second half of 2012 reaching out to stakeholders to determine the needs and priorities of our sector and have used your feedback to craft a year of programming that will engage with an important topic each quarter.

• Quarter One: Leadership. Board engagement, governance, and fundraising to ensure dynamic and responsible leadership.
• Quarter Two: Engagement. Creating an active, engaged network of internal and external stakeholders to further your mission.
• Quarter Three: Development. Both traditional and innovative methods of fundraising and friendraising to sustainably support your organization.
• Quarter Four: Collaboration and Innovation. Exploring our nonprofit community's potential for working together and furthering the well-being of our region.

Each month we will bring you a membership meeting with a speaker or panel on the month's topic, and will support that meeting with "In the Know" events where you can meet policymakers, elected offocials, and experts. Affinity groups will allow people working in the same field to build connections, share resources, and get advice from their peers on meeting common challenges. Networking events, workshops, book talks, and clinics will give you the opportunity to get to know your nonprofit community better, share best practices, and continue to build your knowledge and skills. 2013 will also see the launch of our first annual conference to be held in partnership with Cal Nonprofits.

June Membership Meeting: State of Nonprofits Annual Summit. Friday, June 7, 8:30 am. This month we will be partnering with the school of Leadership and Education Sciences for their State of Nonprofits Annual Summit. The morning session, from 8:30-10:30 am will be a discussion of the health of our nonprofit sector that will feature the results of USD's research and an interactive panel.
